Anaesthetic
Treatment under anaesthetic – sometimes the more pleasant option
We try to make each treatment as short and pleasant as possible for our patients. Therefore, for more involved treatment, such as the insertion of several implants or the extraction of wisdom teeth, we offer a full anaesthetic or a “twilight sleep” using intravenous sedation. For those patients who are most fearful of the dentist, this is often a better alternative than prolonging any necessary treatment. In these cases, we are assisted by a renowned anaesthetic team. An explanatory chat takes place in our practice, as does an examination by the resident doctor, followed by a telephone call between the patient and doctor the day prior to the procedure in which, amongst other things, the patient will be reminded to keep an empty stomach. The treatment itself takes place in our practice rooms and once the patient has fully regained consciousness, he or she may be allowed home with the help of a family member or friend.
